La PORTE, IN (Jun. 14, 2022) – The City of La Porte will open cooling centers today to help residents beat the heat, according to Mayor Tom Dermody.
“We have been saying for months how ready we were for summer – needless to say, it’s finally here,” Dermody said. “This heat is a lot for anyone, but elderly people and those with heart conditions or breathing issues are especially at risk, which is why we are opening centers to help people cool off. We are grateful to our local community partners for assisting us in this effort and encourage everyone to take advantage of this resource.”
The following locations will be open to the public as cooling centers for today, Tuesday, June 14 and tomorrow, Wednesday, June 15:

*The fire station will be evacuated in the event of a fire call.
