Performs and coordinates a variety of clerical duties to support daily activities of  the Center. Performs work related to assisting in programs/activity planning, implementation, promotion, and related support of Senior Center Supervisor.  

Part-Time Hourly Wage:  $15.00

ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF THE POSITION.  Duties include the following, other duties may be assigned.

Performs a variety of tasks to support facility activities including front desk reception, program information and registration, program activity tracking.

Assists patrons with requests for information, forwarding complicated requests to Senior Center Supervisor.

Distributes publicity materials for Senior Center activities.

Monitors volunteers for Senior Center activities.

Maintains regular and reliable attendance.

Maintains seamless customer service.

Serves in leadership capacity in the absence of supervisor.

Performs other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES.  None

QUALIFICATIONS.

Must be 18 years of age or older.

Excellent communication skills

Requires the ability to work cooperatively with senior citizens.

Ability to work at varying schedules including evenings and weekends when necessary.

Requires the ability to concentrate and accomplish tasks despite interruptions and distractions.

Requires the ability to work as contributing member of a team.

Works productively and cooperatively with other teams and external customers.

Conveys a positive image of the City.

Ability to learn and follow City policies and regulations.

KNOWLEDGE and/or EXPERIENCE.  The position requires working knowledge of the practices and techniques used in a community service office such as filing systems, telephone technology, letter and report writing.  Requires a working knowledge of personal computer-based software programs that support this level of work, including but not limited to common office productivity software.  Requires mathematics skills to compute sums and statistics.  Requires sufficient human relations skills, present a positive image of the Senior Center and use patience in dealing with customers.

LANGUAGE SKILLS.  Ability to communicate effectively with the public.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE.  High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

The employee operates equipment such as, but not limited to, office copier, computer, telephone, or other related equipment.

The employee may be exposed to cleaning chemicals.  All City facilities and vehicles are tobacco-free.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS.  Valid Indiana Driver’s License.  CPR/First Aid Certified.

OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS.  Ability to work courteously and tactfully with customers and employees.  Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule.  Ability to use equipment properly and safely.
