PARK AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT - SEASONAL ART CAMP SUPERVISOR

UP TO $16.50 PER HOUR

GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION.  To conduct recreation activities in a learning type environment.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Provides lesson plans, prior to class
  • Conducts recreational activities through teaching and/or participation with the public
  • Assists participants in learning skills for activity
  • Orders and maintains supplies necessary to conduct the activity, with prior approval of Recreation Director
  • Works in cooperation with the Park and Recreation Department in conducting the activity
  • Helps in promotion of program
  • Submit payroll information
  • Attends meetings pertaining to program

Any other duties deemed necessary by the Park and Recreation Department

QUALIFICATIONS. KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE.  Submit a portfolio of 6-8 original art works which demonstrates proficiency with a variety of art media.

LANGUAGE SKILLS.  Ability to communicate effectively with the public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS.  Ability to maintain accurate time sheets and submit them to a designated supervisor in a timely manner.

REASONING ABILITY.  Ability to understand, carry out, and give oral and written instructions and follow posted schedules.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS.  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  Work is typically performed standing, bending, stooping, reaching, walking, sitting, and lifting.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS.

  • Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older.
  • Ability to report to work as scheduled and notify the appropriate individuals in advance if unable to work.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective, harmonious, cooperative, and productive working relationships with the public, supervisors, and other employees of the City of La Porte.
  • Ability to work with minimal daily supervision.
