The Lifeguard Supervisor is responsible for supervising the lifeguard operation of the beach area.

Wage:  Up to $16.50 per hour

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

Supervises lifeguard staff and is responsible for seeing that the beach area is staffed during the hours of operation.

Provides a lifeguard schedule to the Park and Recreation for the summer season.

Oversees lifeguard in-service training.

Provides the Park and Recreation Department with payroll reports.

Evaluates Lifeguard Staff and recruits Lifeguards as needed.

Maintains beach records in regards to supplies, accident and vandalism reports and daily beach reports.

Acts as a liaison making recommendations to the Park and Recreation Department.

Supervisory responsibilities including responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the unit. Directly supervises 1-10 non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Performs other duties as assigned.

Background check and pre-employment drug screen will be performed.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or one or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Training is required under the standards set forth for Professional Lifeguards by The American Red Cross.
