Indiana Avenue Construction Updates

Here is the lastest update from the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) regarding the status of the U.S. 35/Indiana Avenue Road Reconstruction Project:
- This is a full road reconstruction project, including improving pedestrian facilities, lights, signals, drainage, and underground utilities (sanitary and water) through the U.S. 35 corridor.
- Work in 2025 included reconstruction of the intersection of U.S. 35/Indiana Ave and Kingsbury Ave/Woodlawn Dr, as well as outfall utility work.
- Work resumed in March 2026, with U.S. 35 closing between State Road 2/Lincolnway and Maple Ave. This section was completed and reopened at the beginning of July.
- U.S. 35 also closed between Kingsbury Ave and South Ave in mid-March, and that section is expected to reopen in October.
- In mid-July, the closure was extended from South Ave to Warwick St. This closure will expand north to Alexander St around the time that the Kingsbury Ave to South Ave section reopens. Work on the section from South Ave to Alexander St is currently scheduled through December.
- As crews complete each section of reconstruction, the closure will move northwest until meeting with the completed section just south of State Road 2.
- This project will be ongoing through 2027.
Information updated September 1, 2026.
