Pay on time and save
Did you know that when you miss your utility bill due date, there’s a minimum monthly fee of nearly $4 that is assessed upon the late payment? If you pay late every month, that’s nearly $50 in fees a year!
The good news is that you avoid these fees by paying on time! There are several easy tools to ensure your bill is paid by the due date – the 25th of each month:
- Sign up for Auto Pay with a checking or savings account – Your balance will be automatically drafted from your account on time each month.
- Pay your bill in person – Visit us inside City Hall or swing through our Drive-Thru located behind the building at 801 Michigan Ave.
- Drop your payment in the dropbox – The secure dropbox located on the sidewalk in front of City Hall is closely monitored, with payments collected daily.
- Pay by Phone – Call us at (844) 916-1245 and make a card payment through our secure payment system (note: a convenience fee of 2.95% is assessed for debit and credit card payments).
- Register your account online at laportein.authoritypay.com – By creating an account using a valid email address, you’ll receive reminders when the due date is approaching.
Please note that due to delays through USPS, mailed payments are not always on time and can still result in late fees. This includes payments through your personal bank’s online bill pay option, which may result in delayed processing times due to USPS.
Delinquent notices are processed and mailed immediately following a missed payment. That said, even after you’ve paid your late balance, you may still receive a notice from us.
