WinterFest 2021 - January 30-31

Join us for a blast of winter fun!

The annual WinterFest, organized by the City of La Porte Park and Recreation Department, returns January 30 and 31.  Although several favorite events will not be held due to restrictions in place to stop the spread of COVID-19, we hope the community joins us in our annual WinterFest event.  It will look and feel different than in the past; however, there are events available for everyone!

Night Bike Rides - 2021

The La Porte Night Bicycle Rides will take you on a leisurely  13-mile starlit bike ride of La Porte. We are excited to offer three night bike ride events again this year! The dates and La Porte locations are as follows: June 11 (Dennis F. Smith Amphitheater, 116 W. McClung Road - Fox Memorial Park), July 9 (Cummings Lodge, 350 Grangemouth Drive - Soldiers Memorial Park) and August 13 (Kesling Park Shelter 4, 2153 "A" Street).  Check in time is at 8 p.m. with the ride beginning promptly at 9 p.m. Please note these are NOT races. All participants must wear a helmet and have a headlight and taillight on their bike. Participants under the age of 10 years old must be accompanied and ride with an adult, either pull behind or tandem and require their own registration. Cost for each ride event is $20 per person ($30 night of ride) and includes post-race snacks and a t-shirt if registered a week prior to the event or until supply is gone.  Register at the Park Office (250 Pine Lake Avenue).

Letters from Santa - 2020

We are excited to announce a new FREE non-contact event!  It is very simple to participate.  Complete the registration form below, drop it off at the Park Office or email your form directly to Recreation Director Pam Carroll before the deadline of December 11.  The Jolly Ole' Man will mail a personalized letter through the United States Postal Service.  So if you have a child who has been really good or a child who may be leaning towards the naughty list, this Free service will be a little extra reminder that Santa is watching!
