  3. Memorial Day Ceremony

    May 27, 2019, 10:30 AM @ Dennis F. Smith Amphitheater

    The annual Memorial Day Ceremony takes place at 10:30 AM Monday at the Dennis F. Smith Amphitheater in Fox Park. The event begins with a half hour of patriotic music performed by the LaPorte City Band. At 11:00 AM, local veterans organizations, volunteers, speakers and others will honor the thousands from our community who have given the ultimate sacrifice in a moving program that will include a 21-gun salute, the playing of “Taps” and the presentation of wreaths representing each conflict over the decades. The program also includes the reading of the names of veterans who have died within the past year. In case of rain, the ceremony will be moved to the Civic Auditorium.
