  2. Bistro on the Greens Ribbon Cutting

    Bistro on the Greens, from the creator and owner of Bourbon Street Bistro, will celebrate its Grand Opening on Memorial Day weekend. The restaurant, located at 299 W. Johnson Road in La Porte, will have a ribbon cutting on May 26 at 4:30 p.m. administered by the Greater La Porte Chamber of Commerce. This restaurant overlooks the greens of Legacy Hills Golf Course and will be a dynamic addition to the culinary landscape of Northwest Indiana. The menu will feature a sophisticated spin on comfort food and Cajun food.

  5. Memorial Day Ceremony

    May 29, 2017, 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM @ Dennis F. Smith Amphitheater

    Make your plans to attend the Memorial Day ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 29, at the Dennis F. Smith Amphitheater in Fox Park. The event begins with a half hour of patriotic music performed by the La Porte City Band. At 11 a.m., local veterans organizations, volunteers, speakers and others will honor the thousands who have served in the military from our community in a moving program that will include a 21-gun salute, the playing of “Taps” and the presentation of wreaths representing each conflict over the decades, as well as the reading of the names of veterans who have died within the past year. In case of rain, the ceremony will be moved to the Civic Auditorium.

  6. Plaza 618 by La Porte Hospital Ribbon Cutting

    Plaza 618 by La Porte Hospital is ready for the summer season with many of its components and amenities in place. To celebrate, the City of La Porte will perform a ribbon cutting administered by the Greater La Porte Chamber of Commerce on May 30 at 4:00 p.m. at the plaza, located at 618 Lincolnway. With tables for outdoor dining, benches for relaxing, an interactive fountain, plenty of flexible space for all kinds of events, and more to come, Plaza 618 is sure to be a great place to enjoy Downtown La Porte throughout the year. Plaza 618 came to fruition through generous donations from many individuals, organizations, and local businesses, particularly La Porte Hospital, and a grant from the Indiana Office of Tourism Development and Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs.
