  5. Totally Awesome CAYA Bowl-a-thon

    FAMILY ADVOCATES INVITES YOU TO GO BACK TO THE 80'S AT OUR TOTALLY AWESOME BOWL-A-THON. Up to 24 teams will participate in our 2019 bowl-a-thon hosted at Casey’s Lanes in La Porte. Proceeds from the event will support the Court Appointed Youth Advocate (CAYA Program) that provides mentors to at-risk youth involved in delinquent acts or status offenses. Participants will meet playful competition as they bowl for funds along side their peers, friends and family to help support the CAYA program. - The individual that raises the most in donations will win a prize. -The team that raises the most in donations goes home with the CAYA Bowl-a-thon Traveling Trophy and bragging rights. You can share the link on social media and in email to help raise funds. Come have an "awesome" time bowling and helping a wonderful program make a difference in the lives of local youth! WEAR YOUR FAVORITE 80'S GEAR!

    Keeping sports fun — especially in the early stages of youth participation — is the primary concern of our programs. We believe in participation for all, positive competition and building character. We teach fundamentals and traditions of the game, champion sportsmanship and encourage family and community support. Registration for Baseball, Softball, T-Ball and Tennis begins with Youth Sports Registration Nights in the lower level of the Civic Auditorium. Costs vary depending upon the program. Registration available beginning January 18 at the Park Office (250 Pine Lake Avenue) or on-line. Make checks payable to the La Porte Park and Recreation Department. Visa/Master Card accepted. Please bring the participant's birth certificate along with the appropriate registration fee. Financial assistance is available for qualifying families.

    Come and view creative ice sculptors bring a block of ice to life under the lights of the Rotary Honor Garden Gazebo in Soldiers Memorial Park (250 Pine Lake Avenue). The chiseling and picking is set to begin at 4:00 PM with viewing available during regular park hours (sunrise-10 p.m.) until Mother Nature takes them away!

  5. WinterFest Cornhole Tournament

    Whether you call it cornhole or bags, enjoy your favorite outdoor summer activity indoors this winter at the WinterFest Cornhole Tournament. This new event, presented by American Legion Hamon Gray Post 83, will be held Saturday, January 26, at the Civic Auditorium. The entry fee is $50 per two-man team or $25 for individuals. Register at the Park Office (250 Pine Lake Avenue), American Legion Post 83 (228 E. Lincolnway) or on-line at https://winterfestcornhole.eventbrite.com. Cash bar and concessions available.
