  2. Memorial Day Ceremony

    May 25, 10:30 AM @ Dennis F. Smith Amphitheater

    Make your plans to attend the Memorial Day ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Dennis F. Smith Amphitheater in Fox Park. The event begins with a half hour of patriotic music performed by the La Porte City Band. At 11 a.m., local veterans organizations, volunteers, speakers and others will honor the thousands who have served in the military from our community in a moving program that will include a 21-gun salute, the playing of “Taps” and the presentation of wreaths representing each conflict over the decades, as well as the reading of the names of veterans who have died within the past year. In case of rain, the ceremony will be moved to the Civic Auditorium.

  4. NIRPC Listening Sessions on Greenways + Blueways 2020 Plan

    May 27, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM @ La Porte County Solid Waste & Water Conservation District

    The Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission (NIRPC) will be holding a series of listening sessions in preparation for creating the Greenways + Blueways 2020 plan. This plan will combine the 2007 Greenways + Blueways plan and the 2010 Ped & Pedal Plan. It will be the first time that the areas of conservation, transportation, and recreation have all been combined into a single document for Lake, Porter, and LaPorte Counties. The public is invited to attend these listening sessions and provide input to guide NIRPC in this process. This sessions will especially be of interest to those interested in conservation of natural areas and open lands and non-motorized transportation such as walking, biking, hiking, and paddling.

  5. Maple City Grand Prix

    Test runs from 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. with Downtown Parade and Block Party beginning at 6:30 p.m.

  6. Fitness Fridays

    May 29, 4:15 PM - 5:15 PM @ Corner of Michigan and Maple, Downtown La Porte

    Fitness Fridays will take place at 4:15 p.m. every week through mid-October outside the La Porte County Family YMCA on Michigan Avenue. Take part in a 5K run, bicycle routes of short to medium length distances, or fun walks of one, two or three miles are also offered. Participants receive a free T-shirt.

  7. Maple City Grand Prix Boat Parade and Downtown Block Party

    May 29, 5:00 PM - 10:00 PM @ Downtown La Porte

    Boat Parade through downtown La Porte starting at Dary Queen and proceeding on Lincolnway to North on Detroit Street and then West on State Street to block party at Monroe and State.

    The La Porte Downtown Farmers Market sets up each Saturday morning at the Corner of Lincolnway and Monroe Street and features locally grown produce, along with arts and crafts, live music, food vendors,,,

    Testing, time trials and races all day, with Opening Ceremonies at 11:50 a.m. Live music by Point 'n Fingers at 6 p.m. and fireworks over Stone Lake at dusk.
