The public is invited. If you work downtown, stop by for lunch or pick up a carry-out.

  3. Arbor Day Tree Give-Away

    The La Porte City Tree Commission will hold its annual ARBOR DAY TREE GIVEAWAY on Saturday, April 30, at Kesling Park near the big brown barn adjacent to 18th Street. Distribution of trees to interested La Porte residents will begin at 8:00 am. Trees available will be: White Pine, Flowering Dogwood, Silky Dogwood, Sugar Maple, Bald Cypress, Sycamore, and Tulip tree.

  4. Clean It Up Day

    April 30, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

    Pitch in to clean up your neighborhood, county road or any public space of your choice from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, April 30, with the La Porte County Solid Waste District – and get everything you need to do it! Now in its fifth year, Clean It Up Day is put on with help from several government agencies, as well as generous donations from local businesses and the national non-profit group Keep America Beautiful.   1. Scotts Pitch, Hit & Run

    April 30, 11:00 AM @ Lions Field

    Pitch, Hit & Run is the official skills competition of Major League Baseball. This grassroots program is designed to provide youngsters with an opportunity to compete, free of charge, in a competition that recognizes individual excellence in core baseball/softball skills. Boys and girls may compete in either the Baseball or Softball competition, which are divided into four age divisions: 7/8, 9/10, 11/12 and 13/14 (as of July 17, 2016). Participants have the chance to advance through four levels of competition, including Team Championships at Major League ballparks and the National Finals at the MLB All Star Game. All participants must have their parent or guardian fill out a registration/waiver form prior to the event. Unless registered for the La Porte Park and Recreation Department’s Cal Ripken Baseball or Girls Softball programs, participants must bring a birth certificate.
