Keeping sports fun — especially in the early stages of youth participation — is the primary concern of our programs. We believe in participation for all, positive competition and building character. We teach fundamentals and traditions of the game, champion sportsmanship and encourage family and community support.
Our T-Ball program (for boys and girls, ages 5-6 as of April 30, 2018) offers instruction in the basic fundamentals used in baseball and softball, such as hitting, fielding, game situations and base running. Program runs for six weeks, June 11-July 19, for two nights per week. First week will consist of two nights with a hour-long practice each night. The next five weeks will include two nights of a half-hour practice followed by a game. We will have umpires on each diamond, helping with rules and keeping a good pace to the game. Volunteer coaches are needed. Soft safety ball will be used. Players need to furnish their own glove.
Registration begins with Youth Sports Registration Nights from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 16, and Thursday, January 18, in the lower level of the Civic Auditorium. Cost is $50 for first child and $40 for each additional child in same household. Registration available beginning January 19 at the Park Office (250 Pine Lake Avenue) or on-line. An additional $20 will be added to registration fee after March 9. Financial assistance is available for qualifying families.
