Law Department

Responsibilities


The Law Department works, for the most part, internally with the mayor, department heads, City Council, and boards and commissions.  

Services provided includes:
  • Drafting ordinances, resolutions, and agreements
  • Drafting and reviewing contracts and other legal documents

Public Records Requests.  Public Records Request Forms are located in front of the Clerk Treasurer’s Office or can be downloaded here.  After the form is filled out please place in the box at that location or the form can be emailed to publicrecords@cityoflaportein.gov.   You will receive a confirmation along with a copy of your Public Records Request form.  

Citizen Complaint Form.  Citizen Complaint Forms can be downloaded here.  After the form is filled out, please email it to cparthun@cityoflaportein.gov; or it can be mailed to Courtney Parthun, 801 Michigan Avenue, La Porte, IN 46350; or put in an envelope and placed in the drop box in front of City Hall, 801 Michigan Avenue, La Porte, Indiana.
